A desert sport-climbing crag with dozens of bolted routes, minutes from town.
Green Valley Gap is one of the area's premier rope-climbing venues: a set of desert walls lined with bolted sport routes, reached by a short approach from a dedicated trailhead. Together with the Zen Wall, it has been a cornerstone of St. George climbing for years.
Dozens of bolted routes
The Gap wall carries roughly two dozen sport routes across its North and South sections, with grades running from moderate to hard (about 5.5 to 5.12), plus a handful more lines out at The Point to the west. There is something here for newer rope climbers and veterans alike.
Decades of guiding and connection
Like the Zen Wall, Green Valley Gap has been used by guiding companies for decades to introduce people to climbing and bring revenue into the area. Many climbers return here year after year, keeping a lasting tie to St. George.
Easy to reach
Park at the Gap Sport Climb Parking Lot, reached by the Gap Side Road off the main road, then walk a short approach to the base. The same trailheads serve the boulders and the bike trails, so it is easy to combine a day.
Why it matters
Green Valley Gap is a rare thing: a quality, accessible crag right at the edge of a growing city. Keeping it public protects both the climbing and the local businesses and guides who depend on it.
